Do not get in trouble: check these four crucial website elements

When you do an SEO audit to validate the indexability of your web pages, you have to consider many technical items. Without an error-free website, it will be very difficult to get good visibility in Google’s organic search results.

Here are the top four technical things that you should check on your website:

1. Mobile indexability

The majority of searches on Google are on mobile devices. Google is working on a mobile-first index that is going to be released within the next few months.

Without a mobile SEO audit, your web pages won’t get the visibility they deserve in Google’s mobile search results. To check the mobile indexability of your website, do the following:

  1. Test if your website is mobile friendly on this page.
  2. Check your web pages with the website audit tool in SEOprofiler.

The website audit tool in SEOprofiler enables you to choose Google’s mobile user agent. The audit tool will then get the same pages as Google’s mobile bot.

If there are any issues (errors, redirects, blocked pages, slow pages, etc.), the website audit tool will show them. You can select the mobile user agent on the settings page of the website audit tool:

2. Structured data usage

Google’s results pages feature special results formats such as rich snippets, rich cards, answer boxes, or knowledge panels. These special results formats are influenced by the structured data tags that you use on your web pages.

If your web pages contain structured data code that is relevant to a particular query, Google will show your website in a better way on the search results page. The tools in SEOprofiler can help you:

  1. Use the JSON-LD markup code creator tool in SEOprofiler to add structured data code to your pages.
  2. Use the website audit tool in SEOprofiler to check the pages of your website that contain structured data code.

3. AMP (accelerated mobile pages)

Google created the Accelerated Mobile Pages Project (AMP) as a competitor to Facebook’s Instant Articles. It is similar to HTML and optimized for mobile web browsing. Using special code, AMP-HTML is intended to help web pages load rapidly when clicked in the Google search results pages.

Websites that offer an AMP version of their pages are more likely to appear in news searches on Google. If you use WordPress to create your web pages, you can use AMP plugins to create AMP versions of your pages.

Use the website audit tool in SEOprofiler to check your AMP configuration:

4. Secure web pages

Google has been using HTTPS since 2014 as a minor ranking signal. Google also announced that they will mark HTTP pages that collect passwords, credit card numbers and similar data as ‘not secure’.

More than half of Google’s top search results use HTTPS. If you want to provide a trustworthy and secure user experience, HTTPS is a must.

When you migrate your website from HTTP to HTTPS, make sure that you migrate all of the content and resources (web pages, images, JavaScript files, CSS files, etc.). Mixed content pages will be marked as ‘not secure’.

When the website audit tool in SEOprofiler checks the indexability of your web pages, it also checks which pages are delivered with HTTP and HTTPS:
